Berg is an award-winning publisher of academic books, journals, reference works and textbooks in the social sciences and humanities.
Established in 1982 and based in London in the UK, Berg has an international reputation in fashion, design and social anthropology and a rapidly growing journals programme with a focus on culture and the visual arts.
Berg publishes 50 new books each year and has a backlist of over 1100 titles. More than 400 Berg books are now available in e-format.
Berg publishes 16 academic journals, including Fashion Theory and Textile: The Journal of Cloth and Culture. Berg's newest journal Interiors: Design, Architecture, Culture launched in 2010 and was awarded the 2011 CELJ award for Best New Journal. All Berg journals are available online by annual subscription.
In 2010 Berg published the Berg Encyclopedia of World Dress and Fashion. This comprehensive work is available in print as a 10-volume set as well as online as part of the Berg Fashion Library. A subscription-based portal, the Berg Fashion Library is the most authoritative resource on fashion worldwide, providing cross-cultural, historical and retail-sector educational materials for students and academics.
Berg won the E-Publishing Award from the Independent Publishers Guild in 2008.
